All available skills can be observed at Skill tree which can be accessed by pressing a button as on picture below.

There are 5 tabs of them and 1 separate tab to observe the skilltree of partners'.

Overall in NSO all combat skills can be divided into 6 types:

  • Physical - also known as melee, offensive skills with damage based on ATK stat.
  • Magical - offensive skills with damage based on MATK stat.
  • Hybrid - offensive skills with low damage which is uses next formula^ (ATK + MATK) / 2. These skills are often has some little chance of applying certain side effect to the target.
  • POW - usually damaging skills which need POW bar charged to use.
  • Support - skills which does a special actions like stun, buff, debuff and etc.
  • Passive - skills which have constant action, like improving damage, health, defense, resistances and rates of other skills.

Also there are some Craftsman's skills but they are more like passive skills:

If you only just started game, you may have noticed, that you only have few basic hybrid skills:

These skills and also all the basic skills of partners can be trained only by using them in battle.

All other skills must be trained at certain NPC coach after completing quest they're asking for.

Skill EXP

Once you won a battle from the list of skill quests, the NPC will reward you with new skill to learn. The following window with skill icon will appear.

From now on this NPC is your coach for this skill. By clicking on this icon you're automatically learning this skill in exchange of skill experience points (Skill EXP) which are stored at Skill EXP bar and Memory cards in your inventory.

Skill EXP (SE) comes from battles as a percentage from current experience value (EXP). In other words, when you getting EXP from a battle almost the same number of it adds to Skill EXP bar (at the bottom of the screen) in form of skill experience points.

Note: this valuse is not getting deducted from normal EXP, it just uses normal EXP to determine amount of Skill EXP added.

Skill EXP bar (SE bar) serves as a storage for skill experience points which can be spent to learn any skill at any NPC coach just anytime you want. However initial Skill EXP bar is capped by 10,000 points as max, but certain Extended memory passive skill can expand the bar upto 20,000 as much.

 Memory card.
Once you have accumulated the maximum amount of skill experience points allowed in the bar, game won't allow to store point any further, until you spend the points to learn a skill or unless you got an empty Memory card (Blue card) in your inventory. Skill EXP will be automaticly transfered to an empty Memory card with +30% bonus.

For example: 10,000 at bar -> 13,000 at card, 20,000 at bar -> 26,000 at card. But these cards are for one use only, so they will be terminated right after you've spend all the Skill EXP from stock to learn anything from NPC.

Remember: to train any skill from NPC coach you need to have at least 1 free slot at inventory!

 EXP share card.
Another type of cards are Experience share cards (Red card). After your partner reached LV20 it gets his own special bar with 10,000 limit. Don't confuse it with Skill EXP bar of yours! This bar is slowly fills as your partner getting normal experience from battle, Once this bar is full, the amount of 10,000 points will be automaticly stored to an empty Exp share card in inventory (if you have any). These points are EXP for partners. This kind of EXP can be applied to any of your partners by double clicking on card once on certain partner's screen of State & Inventory menu. Card is one use and will be terminated after.

Remember: if your partner has higher LV than you (or equal LV but has higher percent of EXP) you won't be able to apply Exp share card. Also you won't be able to train your partner on ship.
